Chief Executive Officer, President, and Coordinator of REI’s Laos Program
Roderick Beidler was first attracted to REI because of REI’s authentic and sustainable approach to development as a means to help improve the quality of human life in emerging nations. He appreciates that REI’s work is also relational, creating an opportunity for long-term relationships. As President and CEO of REI, his passion is to cast vision, build teams, and grow and develop REI into an organization that makes a lasting difference in the lives, the families, the communities, and the nations of the people among whom REI works. He brings 31 years of experience in not-for-profit leadership to REI.
Cherlynn Moes has served as REI’s Director of Operations since April 2010. Her role involves four distinct functions – Chief Financial Officer, Director of Administration, Corporate Treasurer, and Corporate Secretary. She has a varied professional background in civil engineering, administration, and management with the United States Navy; and a total of 14 years experience in non-profit management and administration, including a camp & conference center; an accredited, on-line, jr-high/high school; and a large non-profit agency in Colorado Springs. Her education includes a BS in Civil Engineering (University of Arizona), a MS in Financial Management (Naval Postgraduate School), a Certificate in Biblical Studies (Fuller Seminary), and a Certificate in Human Resource Management (California National University).
Ron Wiley is REI’s Director of Field Personnel, with responsibility over recruitment and field staff care. Prior to coming to the REI Global Headquarters in January 2011, Ron had served with REI in Kazakhstan for 16 years, co-founding REI’s local NGO partner, launching and directing programs in rural community development and language education, and serving on the founding boards of directors of a nationwide micro-finance institution and an international school. From 2001 to 2010, he was REI’s Kazakhstan Field Director. Before moving with his family to Kazakhstan, Ron worked in agricultural extension education and research at Colorado State University, and in student leadership development in Colorado and New Mexico. Ron holds a BS in Bio-Agricultural Science, a MS in Plant Genetics & Breeding, a MA in Organizational Leadership, and is currently in doctoral studies in Conflict Analysis & Resolution. He also has trained and practices as a life coach, a restorative justice circle facilitator, and a facilitator of dialogue over divisive issues, and he actively promotes and facilitates restorative justice practices in schools, universities, and the juvenile justice system in southern Colorado. Ron, together with his wife, Jeanine, are proud parents to four adult Third Culture Kids (TCKs), and make their home in Pueblo, CO, not far from the family farm and ancestral homesteads.
Pat Yanney, a Colorado native, serves as REI’s Director of Human Resources. He holds a BA Degree in Behavioral Science and Business from Colorado State University. His wife Stephanie, to whom he has been married for 32 years, is from California. They have two grown sons, Mark and Luke. Pat is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) with over 30 years experience working in administration and human resources in the non-profit sector. His favorite pastimes are camping and cars. He and Stephanie are always eager to hitch up the trailer and acccompany friends to the mountains. Pat has two vintage cars that are used in car shows and track events.
